Happy new year! The Lookout is working, we’re healthy, and it feels like good things are in store. And we need a truck!
We were just given an amazing, professional-quality wildfire slip-in fire pump from our longest-running sponsor, QTAC, but I don’t have a suitable four-wheel drive truck to use it with, yet.
We plan to use the truck to support the prescribed fire education work we’ve been doing, including teaching people how to use fire pumps, and acting as a holding
I can raise the amount needed to equip a truck (toolboxes, flatbed, hose, brass, nozzles, etc) once we have it, by selling my existing 2WD pickup, but are looking for someone to donate a 4WD diesel pickup truck or funds to purchase one.
As of 1/11/2026, we’ve raised about $9k of the total $30-40k we need for this project!
We’d prefer a few larger donations rather than doing something like a GoFundMe, at this point.
You can donate via PayPal, or make tax-deductible donations via the Terra Fuego Resource Foundation.
The video below lays out our proposal.

What We Need to Do Next:
- [ ] Acquire a four-wheel-drive diesel pickup (F-250, F-350, F-450 or F-550 or RAM, GMC, or Chevy 2500, 3500, 4500, or 5500, ideally under 200,000 miles) to serve as the chassis for a Type 6 fire engine.
- [ ] If we can’t get a truck donated, we need to fundraise approximately $30-40,000 to purchase a suitable truck and buy required equipment (flatbed, toolboxes, radios) to build out the fire engine
- [ ] Sell my existing two-wheel-drive pickup and apply proceeds toward purchasing hoses, brass, and misc parts and equipment needed to complete the Type 6 fire engine build
- [ ] Convert the acquired truck into a fully-equipped Type VI fire engine in the ZKO Design shop using the donated QTAC pump and purchased hardware (build flatbed, install toolboxes, plumbing, and hose connections)
